Privacy Policy

xpenses is an expense tracker for iPhone made by Lev Poznyakov. This policy explains what happens to your data. "We" means the xpenses project.

Your data stays with you

xpenses has no account and no server of its own. Your transactions, wallets, categories, budget and settings are stored on your device. If iCloud is on for xpenses, Apple syncs them through your private iCloud database to your other devices, under the Apple Privacy Policy. We can't see, read or restore that data.

Exchange rates

To convert between currencies, xpenses downloads public exchange rates from the free currency-api, served by jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) and Cloudflare Pages (currency-api.pages.dev). The request names only the base currency. Like any web request, it shows your IP address to those services. Nothing about your transactions is sent.

Voice and text entry

Turning a phrase like “coffee 4.5” into a transaction happens on your device, with Apple's on-device language model where it's available. Voice entry uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. For a language that iOS can't recognise on the device, iOS may send the recording to Apple to transcribe it, under Apple's privacy policy. xpenses never sends your voice or text to us.

Purchases

Apple handles xpenses+ purchases and subscriptions. We don't receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether xpenses+ is active.

Analytics and advertising

xpenses has no analytics, advertising or tracking. If you choose to share crash reports and usage data with app developers in iOS settings, Apple passes them to us anonymously under Apple's privacy policy.

Import, export and email

CSV import and export read and write files only where you choose. If you write to us from the app, we receive your email and what you write, and use them only to answer you.

Deleting your data

Delete transactions and wallets in the app. To remove everything, delete the app and, in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage, delete the xpenses data.

Children

xpenses doesn't collect personal data from anyone, children included.

Changes

We post changes to this policy on this page with a new effective date.
